Job Purpose

The Cath Lab Scrub Nurse supports cardiologists by preparing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating surgical needs, and ensuring safe, effective patient care during invasive cardiovascular procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare the sterile field and arrange instruments and supplies before procedures.

Scrub in and assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures (e.g., angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker/ICD insertion).

Handle sterile instruments, guidewires, and catheters with precision and adherence to aseptic technique.

Anticipate the needs of the physician and team during procedures.

Maintain strict infection control protocols and surgical counts.

Assist in pre-procedure patient preparation and positioning.

Monitor and respond to patient status changes during procedures.

Collaborate with the circulating nurse and other Cath lab team members to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.

Document procedures, instruments used, and medications administered accurately

Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations (e.g., cardiac arrest, Code STEMI).

Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed.

Adhere to radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Job Specifications:

Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in managing similar roles in hospitals

Technical Skills: Knowledge of cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures.

Management Skills: Strong physical stamina to assist with patient positioning, transfer, and standing for extended periods.

Communication Skills: Good command over English, Kannada. Ability to resolve problems through effective communication
