Job Description

The Railway Catering Manager

is responsible for managing and overseeing catering operations onboard trains, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, customer service, and sales performance. The role requires regular travel by train and close coordination with catering staff, suppliers, and railway authorities to deliver efficient and customer-focused catering services

Key Responsibilities



Organize, lead, and motivate the onboard catering team to ensure smooth and efficient operations Supervise catering services during train journeys, including food preparation, presentation, and service Monitor and maintain high standards of food quality, portion control, and customer service Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, safety, and railway regulatory standards Interact directly with passengers to address feedback, complaints, and service requests Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and railway authorities to ensure timely supply and quality of food items Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to meet service expectations and contractual requirements Handle staffing matters including scheduling, performance management, and issue resolution Manage and resolve client and operational issues promptly and professionally Identify opportunities to increase onboard sales and upsell catering products Drive revenue growth and maximize sales performance

Sales & Incentives



Responsible for achieving catering sales targets onboard trains Eligible for a

10% sales incentive

based on achieved catering sales

Working Conditions & Benefits



Role involves

regular travel onboard trains

If there is a long journey then stay and food will be provided by the company.

Food provided during duty hours


Skills & Competencies



Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities Sound knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and quality standards Ability to handle pressure and resolve issues during train operations Sales-oriented mindset with strong negotiation and upselling skills Good communication and coordination skills

Qualifications & Experience



Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or railway catering operations preferred Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene practices Experience in managing teams in a mobile or operational environment is an advantage
