Relocation Authorized:National - Family Telework Type: Part-Time Telework Work Location:Various Permanent Locations POSITION SUMMARY: Develops, maintains, and inculcate in-depth technical & global supply knowledge of Piping Bulks, Valves, Specialties to leverage opportunities & mitigate risks for Bechtel Projects. Located at the Gurgaon office, maintains strategic relationship with key suppliers. Performs pre-qualification of new suppliers to expand suppliers list, supports formulating acquisition strategy for piping bulk materials for projects, stays abreast with Market challenges/opportunities and shares latest updates with project teams and senior management, as required. Gets engaged in formation and administration of purchase orders when required. Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions. JOB DIMENSIONS: A. Supervision Received . Reports to and receives operational direction from the assigned Supervisor. B. Supervision Exercised . May provide supervision, training and guidance to other purchasing/expediting personnel as required. C. Contacts . Maintains working relationships with project Supply Chain personnel and project discipline personnels to perform assigned duties. . Maintains working relationships with suppliers involved with the performance of assigned tasks. RESPONSIBILITIES: . Contributes to the establishment of project-level goals. . Performs in-depth technical review of supplier proposals as and when required. . Identifies and qualifies new suppliers as per business needs and maintains pre-qualification documents submitted by Suppliers. . Continually evaluates new - technologies/techniques that improve schedule and reduce cost . Keeps track of developments, opportunities & challenges in acquisition of piping bulk materials and/or other commodities and keeps project management teams and senior management abreast of same. . Collaborates with other SMEs & other engineering colleagues across different business lines & locations. . Maintains commodity heat map, tariffs, and quotas across major economies . Supports key/critical supplier relationships with supplier's senior project personnel executing orders to ensure performance of the work. . Takes responsibility for assigned orders from development through closure, to include engagement with Engineering on purchase requisition development, the acquisition and delivery of purchases, and order closeout to include supporting management of back-charges and claims. . Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions. . Compiles data needed to prepare the critical items reports or other supplementary reports as required. . Oversees supplier performance and ensures supplier evaluation reports are used for efficient execution of ongoing/ future projects . Visits supplier or sub-supplier facilities as and when required to do so. Resolves emerging technical issues as and when they arise during execution QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Internal Candidates Grade-25 A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a reputed University. Post-graduate specialization in Supply Chain Management preferred. 10+ years of industry experience including min.5 years in purchasing and expediting of piping bulk materials in a reputed company with min.3 years as category lead in Piping bulk materials Grade-26 A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a reputed University. Post-graduate specialization in Supply Chain Management preferred. 12+ years of industry experience including 8-10 years in purchasing and expediting of piping bulk materials in a reputed company with min.5 years as category lead in Piping bulk materials External candidates A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a reputed University. Post-graduate specialization in Supply Chain Management preferred. 12-18 years of industry experience including 6-10 years in purchasing and expediting of piping bulk materials in a reputed company with min. 5 years as category lead in Piping bulk materials. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: . In-depth knowledge including but not limited to the below . Manufacturing / fabrication processes for Piping bulk materials, (pipes, tubes, fittings, fixtures, flanges, manual valves, strainers, traps, gaskets and fasteners)., . The entire supply chain including sub-tier suppliers, input material sources of above listed commodities. . Detailed knowledge of Piping material specifications (pipe material classes) . Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline. Specific knowledge of B31 design and materials is essential. . Experience and knowledge of ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM and MSS codes/product specifications is essential. . Executes and verifies related piping calculations (wall thickness, branch reinforcement, vacuum, specialty line blanks, etc.) is a plus. . Reviews Vendor Quotations for Technical Acceptability and completes Technical Bid Evaluations for all piping and valve components. . SmartPlant Reference Data (Smart Materials) experience is a plus . Development of technical, design and purchasing specifications for all bulk piping components . In general, global supply landscape, manufacturing & fabrication methods, related challenges. . Innovative technologies/techniques & alternate material (including and not limited to non-metallics, etc.,) & component knowledge related to the piping bulks, Major suppliers. . General principles & techniques of testing & inspection requirements. . Fully conversant with related engineering standards & codes. . Ability to present to a variety of internal and external audiences in remote locations . Ability to present technical papers at industry conferences. . Well conversant with recent advancements in the industry and supply chain challenges/opportunities. . Skilled in working with and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with other project functional groups. . Capable of interpreting schedules to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and interface between activities maintained. . Capable of providing early warning of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage.
