We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused
Cashier
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately processing transactions, handling cash, and ensuring a positive experience for customers. A strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Processing:
Accurately process customer purchases using cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems, ensuring all items are scanned correctly and totals are calculated accurately.
Cash Handling:
Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and provide accurate change to customers. Ensure the cash drawer is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
Customer Service:
Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their inquiries and assisting with any issues or concerns regarding transactions.
Sales Support:
Assist customers in selecting products or services when needed, providing recommendations and promotions to drive sales.
Receipt Management:
Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Maintain Cleanliness:
Keep the cashier station neat, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies (e.g., receipts, bags, etc.).
Store Security:
Monitor the store and cash register for potential fraudulent activity and report any suspicious behavior to the management team.
Cash Reconciliation:
Reconcile the cash register at the end of the shift, ensuring that all cash and transactions match the sales records.
Customer Returns and Exchanges:
Process returns and exchanges as per company policy and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
Assist with Stocking:
Occasionally assist in stocking shelves, replenishing products, or setting up promotional displays as needed.
Ad-hoc Duties:
Perform other duties as required by the manager, such as opening/closing duties or assisting in training new cashiers.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience:
Previous experience in a cashier or customer service role is an advantage but not required.
Skills:
Excellent numerical ability and attention to detail.
Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations.
Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle cash responsibly and accurately.
Basic understanding of accounting principles (helpful, but not required).
