The Patient Care Assistant will be responsible for providing direct care, support, and assistance to patients at their home or assigned facility. The role requires ensuring patient comfort, maintaining hygiene, monitoring basic health parameters, and supporting nurses/physicians in patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Assistance
Assist patients with daily activities including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
Support in toileting, diaper changing, and maintaining hygiene.
Provide assistance in turning/repositioning bed-ridden patients to prevent bedsores.
Ensure patient comfort and emotional support.
Health Monitoring
Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen level) and record observations.
Report any abnormal changes in the patient's condition to the Nurse/Doctor immediately.
Assist in administering oral medications (as instructed by the Nurse/Doctor).
Support in Medical Care
Assist nurses and physiotherapists in patient handling and exercise activities.
Help in dressing wounds, catheter care, IV support (if trained and permitted).
Provide support during doctor visits and medical procedures.
Housekeeping & Safety
Maintain cleanliness of patient's room and environment.
Ensure safe handling of medical equipment and patient belongings.
Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
Companionship & Emotional Support
Offer companionship to patients, especially elderly or terminally ill.
Provide mental and emotional support by engaging in conversations and recreational activities where possible.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily patient care records.
Report duty handover details accurately at shift change.
Update supervisors regarding patient needs, supplies, or emergencies.
Job Requirements
Minimum qualification: SSLC / Plus Two/ANM/GNM/BSC
Prior experience in patient care/home care/nursing assistant role preferred.
Physically fit to handle long hours and patient lifting/support.
Compassionate, patient, and attentive to details.
Willingness to work
24-hour duty / day duty / night duty
as per company requirement.
Work Schedule
24-hour duty
: Live-in arrangement with patient (including rest hours as scheduled).
Day duty
: Typically 8 AM - 8 PM.
Night duty
: Typically 8 PM - 8 AM.
