A Career Counsellor is responsible for guiding students, working professionals, and job seekers in identifying suitable career paths based on their interests, skills, personality, and market opportunities. The role includes career assessments, personalized counselling sessions, goal setting, and helping clients make informed education and career decisions.
Key Responsibilities1. Career Guidance & Counselling
Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions to understand client aspirations, strengths, and challenges.
Provide guidance on career options, job roles, education pathways, and industry trends.
Suggest suitable career choices based on psychometric assessments and counselling discussions.
2. Assessments & Analysis
Administer and interpret career assessments (aptitude tests, personality tests, interest inventories).
Prepare detailed assessment reports with recommendations.
3. Career Planning & Goal Setting
Assist clients in creating short-term and long-term career plans.
Help them choose suitable courses, certifications, colleges, or training programs.
Provide job search strategies and action plans.
4. Industry & Market Awareness
Stay updated with current job market trends and future career opportunities.
Understand various industries, required skillsets, and typical career progressions.
5. Skill Development Support
Guide clients on improving soft skills, communication, resume writing, and interview preparation.
Recommend learning resources, online courses, and skill-building programs.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain client counselling records, progress reports, and feedback.
Prepare monthly reports and counselling summaries as required.
7. Workshops & Group Sessions
Conduct seminars, webinars, and workshops on career planning, personality development, and job readiness.
Collaborate with schools, colleges, training centers, and corporates.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Education, HR, or related fields.
Certification in Career Counselling / Guidance (preferred).
Key Skills

Experience

In-person or online counselling via Zoom/Google Meet.
Salary Range (India - Typical)
