The Cardiologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing cardiovascular diseases and disorders. The role involves performing advanced cardiac diagnostics, developing treatment plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary medical teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including arrhythmias, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and valvular disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments, diagnostic results, and clinical best practices.
Conduct follow-up evaluations to monitor patient response and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Perform and interpret cardiac tests such as ECG, echocardiography, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and other relevant diagnostics.
Order appropriate imaging, laboratory, and functional tests to support accurate diagnosis.
Work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, internal medicine physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.
Adhere to hospital and national clinical protocols, standards, and guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Medical Degree (MD) with specialization in Cardiology.
Valid medical license to practice in Nigeria (or eligibility to obtain one).
Demonstrated clinical experience in cardiology, including diagnosis and management of complex cardiac cases.
Strong cardiac diagnostic and interpretation skills.
Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
