The Cardio Physiotherapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing specialized physiotherapy treatment programs for patients with cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory conditions. The role focuses on improving functional capacity, reducing symptoms, enhancing quality of life, and promoting long-term lifestyle modifications.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with cardiac or respiratory conditions (e.g., post-cardiac surgery, COPD, CHF, MI, asthma).
Develop individualized cardio-respiratory rehabilitation plans.
Deliver therapeutic interventions such as breathing exercises, airway clearance techniques, aerobic conditioning, and endurance training.
Monitor vital signs and patient responses during therapy sessions.
Provide supervised exercise programs in outpatient, inpatient, and ICU settings.
Assist with early mobilization in critical care and post-op cardiac patients.
Use evidence-based techniques to improve cardiovascular endurance, respiratory efficiency, and functional independence.
Educate patients and families on lifestyle modifications, exercise routines, and disease management.
Collaborate with cardiologists, pulmonologists, nurses, dietitians, and multidisciplinary teams.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and outcomes.
Administrative & Professional Responsibilities
Participate in case discussions, ward rounds, and interdisciplinary meetings.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, infection control, and hospital policies.
Maintain up-to-date records and treatment documentation.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient education workshops.
Assist in training junior physiotherapists, interns, or students (if required).
