Diploma / B.Sc. in Anaesthesia Technology from a recognized institution.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a cardiac or multi-specialty OT setup preferred.
Familiarity with cardiac surgery anaesthesia techniques is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
Sound knowledge of anaesthesia machines and monitoring systems.
Strong attention to safety and infection control practices.
Ability to anticipate anaesthetist requirements and manage emergency situations.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Working Hours:
As per OT schedule and rotation duties including on-call support.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Operative Preparation
Inspect, calibrate, and prepare anaesthesia machines, ventilators, monitors, and accessories prior to every case.
Ensure readiness of airway equipment, breathing circuits, and emergency resuscitation drugs.
Assist in pre-anaesthetic setup and sterile preparation of instruments.
Intra-Operative Assistance
Support the anaesthetist during induction, maintenance, and reversal of anaesthesia.
Prepare drug syringes, manage infusion pumps, assist with invasive line placement (arterial, CVP), and monitor patient parameters.
Coordinate with the perfusionist during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
Cardiac-Specific Technical Support
Operate and maintain advanced haemo dynamic monitoring systems.
Handle TEE probes, defibrillators, and warming/cooling devices used during cardiac surgeries.
Ensure safe handling and connection of gas pipelines and pressure systems.
Post-Operative Handover
Safely transfer post-operative patients to the ICU with continuous monitoring support.
Provide detailed handover of drugs administered, fluids used, and any intra-operative events.
Inventory and Equipment Management
Maintain stock levels of drugs, disposables, and airway equipment in the anaesthesia stores.
Keep records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and biomedical service calls.
Safety and Quality Compliance
Follow strict infection control and OT safety protocols.
Participate in NABH audits, equipment checks, and emergency preparedness drills.
Documentation and Professional Development
Maintain anaesthesia records, incident reports, and daily checklists.
Attend continuing education programs and skill update sessions on new anaesthetic techniques and technologies.
