Responsible for preparing and serving hygienic food for in-patients and employees. Ensures that all meals are cooked, portioned, packed, and kept ready on time for internal service and for external pickup (if required). Maintains cleanliness and follows food safety guidelines.
2. Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
Assist the cook in preparing meals as per hospital menu.
Ensure consistency, correct portion size, and diet-based preparation for IP meals.
Prepare employees' meals as per schedule.
Meal Service
Serve food to IP wards based on diet sheets.
Serve employee meals at the designated area.
Maintain punctuality for breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner timings.
Meal Packing & Readiness for Dispatch
Portion and pack meals accurately as per instructions.
Keep all packed meals ready in the designated pickup area.
Ensure food is
properly labelled
(diet type, ward, time).
Make sure the pickup team receives clean, sealed, correctly packed containers.
Food Safety & Hygiene
Wear proper PPE (gloves, apron, head cap).
Maintain strict hygiene during preparation, packing, and serving.
Ensure food is kept at safe temperatures and covered at all times.
Follow hospital infection control and waste disposal protocols.
Stock & Inventory Assistance
Help monitor daily consumption of provisions.
Assist in receiving groceries, vegetables, milk, and other items.
Follow FIFO for storage.
3. Skills & Qualifications
10th pass preferred.
1-2 years of experience in hospital or institutional kitchen.
Understanding of diet sheets, hygiene, and safe food handling.
