A camp coordinator for both diagnostic and optical services is responsible for the entire lifecycle of a medical outreach event, from planning and promotion to execution and follow-up. This person ensures that eye screenings, health checkups, and optical services are delivered efficiently and effectively in the field.
The Camp Coordinator plans, organizes, and manages health camps that provide both diagnostic and optical services to the community. The coordinator handles community engagement, team supervision, and post-camp reporting to ensure a successful outreach event that meets health and service targets.
Key responsibilities
Pre-camp planning
Overall, he responsible for Target setting, site selection and permissions, publicity and mobilization, logistics and procurement, team and resource management, budgeting etc...
During-camp execution
On-site setup and management:
Oversee the complete setup of the camp, including registration desks, waiting areas, diagnostic testing stations, and Optical testing & optical dispensing counters.
Patient flow:
Manage the flow of patients through registration, screening, diagnosis, counselling, and optical dispensing to ensure a smooth and orderly process.
Coordination:
Act as the primary point of contact and coordinate between the medical team, staff, and patients throughout the event.
Supervision:
Monitor camp staff and volunteers, delegating responsibilities and ensuring they adhere to safety and operational procedures.
Optical support:
Ensure the proper dispensing of eyeglasses and monitor that optical prescriptions are filled accurately.
Post-camp activities
Reporting:
Prepare detailed camp reports that include statistics on patient attendance, services provided, expenses, and outcomes.
Inventory and equipment management:
Oversee the dismantling of the camp and the return of all equipment and supplies. Reconcile any remaining inventory.
Experience:
2 to 4 years' experience at camps
Qualification:
A background in a medical or allied health field is preferred.
Excellent organizational, logistical, and team management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse community members and staff.
Experience in a healthcare or medical environment is often required.
Willingness and ability to travel to various camp locations.
Experience with community outreach and health promotion activities is a plus.
