A CAM Operator in the diamond field is responsible for transforming 3D jewellery designs into machinable CAM data and producing high-quality models used for manufacturing diamond jewelry pieces.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret 2D drawings and 3D jewelry design files received from CAD designers.
Prepare and set up CAM machines to produce accurate jewelry prototypes.
Identify and correct possible design or manufacturing errors before machining.
Operate, monitor, and maintain CAM equipment to ensure efficient production.
Conduct quality checks on the output to ensure precision and design fidelity.
Maintain operation logs, noting machine settings, material usage, and production data.
Collaborate with designers, craftsmen, and production teams to achieve required specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Hands-on experience (1-5 years) in jewelry CAM operation, particularly with wax or resin model production.
Proficiency in CAM and CAD software such as
Rhino, Matrix
Strong understanding of jewelry manufacturing processes and materials.
Attention to detail and ability to ensure high standards of craftsmanship.
Technical knowledge of computer-aided design and manufacturing principles.
Educational background: typically a diploma or degree in jewelry design, mechanical engineering, or CAD/CAM technology.
