Job Purpose: The Junior Engineer - Quality plays a key role in frontline quality assurance by independently conducting inspections, validating non-conformances, and mentoring junior staff in inspection techniques and SOP adherence. The role is responsible for coordinating tagging and segregation of defective parts, driving accuracy in sampling documentation, overseeing tool and gauge handling discipline, and maintaining a high level of visual and 5S compliance in QA zones. The Junior Engineer also leads incident classification, reporting, and data tracking to ensure alignment with quality objectives and regulatory protocols.
Responsibilities:
Basic Inspection and Testing Skills:
Independently conduct thorough inspections on firearm and ammunition parts using calibrated instruments, interpreting borderline tolerances and critical quality points.
Guide team members in proper inspection techniques and ensure accurate defect categorization.
Support process audits by validating inspection outputs during sampling and ensure suspect parts are appropriately isolated, tagged, and documented.
Work Instruction and SOP Adherence:
Drive strict adherence to updated SOPs and quality protocols across shifts.
Mentor team members on following work instructions, handling revisions, and maintaining inspection discipline under tight production timelines.
Actively contribute feedback to improve clarity, relevance, and efficiency of inspection procedures, ensuring field practices align with documentation.
Non-Conformance Identification and Tagging:
Oversee the tagging, documentation, and traceability of all non-conformances.
Verify root-level inspection accuracy of peer reviews and escalate discrepancies or classification errors in defect handling.
Coordinate with rework and material control teams for timely segregation and revalidation of quarantined materials, ensuring alignment with QA policies.
Sampling and Documentation Accuracy:
Lead QA sampling activities aligned with part complexity and process stability.
Ensure end-to-end traceability between part IDs, process parameters, and inspection results in documentation.
Train team members on high-accuracy documentation, identify systemic errors, and flag trends affecting inspection reliability or traceability.
Tool and Gauge Handling Discipline:
Perform proactive inspection of gauges for calibration drift, wear, or misalignment, and initiate replacement or recalibration protocols.
Guide junior QA staff on correct handling and documentation of measuring tools.
Support internal audits on gauge issue-return cycles and improve discipline in traceability logging and tool storage.
5S and Work Area Quality Discipline:
Lead 5S implementation in the QA zone and ensure adherence during shift changes and inspections.
Suggest visual management improvements (e.g., color coding, zone demarcations, signage) that enhance quality control outcomes.
Address root causes for 5S deviations and drive team ownership of visual workplace discipline in high-precision QA areas.
Incident and Deviation Reporting:
Take the lead in classifying and documenting process deviations, customer complaints, or quality incidents with detailed root cause observations.
Act as an escalation point for incident reporting, maintain dashboards or trackers for open deviations, and contribute to system improvements based on incident trend analysis.

Qualifications:
Educational Background:
BE/BTech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering.
Work Experience:
2-5 years in hands-on quality inspection, documentation control, non-conformance handling, and team mentoring within a manufacturing environment.
Industry Knowledge:
Strong understanding of quality SOPs, gauge handling, sampling techniques, and documentation traceability. Exposure to internal audits and root cause analysis techniques preferred.
