The role is responsible for converting engineering blueprints into precise G-code programs that run on CNC/automatic plastic manufacturing machines used to produce body caps and similar components. The engineer ensures accuracy in design translation, machine efficiency, quality of output, and continuous improvement in the production process.
Key Responsibilities1. CAD/CAM Programming
Convert 2D/3D blueprints into accurate G-code for CNC plastic molding machines.
Develop and optimize CAM programs to improve cycle time and reduce material waste.
Ensure dimensional accuracy and tolerance levels as per product specifications.
2. Machine Setup & Support
Collaborate with machine operators to test and validate G-code programs.
Troubleshoot issues related to tooling paths, feeds, speeds, and machine errors.
Recommend adjustments to improve surface finish and product quality.
3. Product Development
Work closely with design and production teams for new product prototyping.
Review product drawings and identify manufacturability issues.
Support mold and die development for plastic components like caps, closures, and accessories.
4. Quality Control
Perform first-piece inspection and validate dimensions using measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Gauge, etc.).
Ensure all programs adhere to manufacturing and quality standards.
5. Documentation & Process Improvement
Maintain program records, revision history, and machine logs.
Develop process sheets, tool lists, and job setup documents.
Suggest improvements to enhance production efficiency and reduce rework.
