The CAD Designer will be responsible for creating, editing, and preparing digital embroidery designs using specialized computer-aided design software. This role involves translating artwork, concepts, and customer requirements into stitch-ready embroidery files while ensuring high quality, accuracy, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Design Creation & Digitizing
Develop and digitize embroidery designs using CAD/embroidery software (e.g., Wilcom, Tajima DG/ML by Pulse, Hatch, EMBird).
Convert vector and raster artwork into stitch files with appropriate stitch types, densities, underlay, and sequencing.
Ensure designs are optimized for specific fabrics, thread types, and embroidery machines.
File Preparation & Quality Control
Prepare sample stitch-outs and make necessary adjustments for quality improvement.
Check and revise designs for clarity, alignment, density, and thread count.
Maintain high-quality standards while meeting production deadlines.
Collaboration
Work closely with the production team to understand machine capabilities and reduce production issues.
Communicate with clients or customer service representatives to clarify design details and expectations.
Coordinate with the art department to interpret artwork accurately.
Documentation & File Management
Organize and maintain a digital library of design files, templates, and production notes.
Prepare job sheets and technical specifications for each design.
Keep records of edits, revisions, and approvals.
Technical Support
Provide technical guidance on design feasibility, fabric suitability, and cost-saving digitizing methods.
Assist in troubleshooting production issues related to digitized designs.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a CAD Designer or Digitizer in the embroidery industry.
Proficiency in embroidery software (e.g., Wilcom, Pulse, Hatch, Tajima).
Strong understanding of stitch types, density, underlay, pathing, and embroidery production processes.
Ability to interpret artwork with high attention to detail.
Knowledge of fabrics, stabilizers, thread types, and hooping techniques.
Strong computer skills and digital file organization.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Creativity combined with technical precision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with multi-head embroidery machines.
Background in graphic design or textile design.
Familiarity with color theory and branding standards.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
