SUMMARY

The Business Product Analyst works on an Agile Team representing customer and business interests through the definition and prioritization of stories in the team backlog that provide sequential deliverables that satisfy the larger features and solutions. The Business Product Analyst works with Product Management and stakeholders to understand the Features and with the Agile Team to develop smaller, incremental stories and iteration deliverables based on those Features. Will work with the Product Owners and stakeholders to define and prioritize stories and determine dependencies. Owns the Agile Team backlog, uses quantitative prioritization techniques (i.e., WSJF) and managing work in progress (WIP) so that the solutions effectively address priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understands and supports prioritized Portfolio and Product Value Stream work by collaborating with Solution
  • Architect, Business Architect, Product Manager, and stakeholders to breakdown features into user stories.
  • Able to connect with the Product Manager, Product Owner and Gather the requirement.
  • Able to explain the Requirement to the team, Clarifies the questions coming from team and closely work with the team.
  • Manages the delivery of business value by owning the team backlog, defining stories, establishing story acceptance criteria, and leading story refinement for preparation of iteration planning and planning increment.
  • Provides input and feedback to Epic Owners on new and existing epics, understands stakeholder and customer needs and cost of delay.
  • Reviews and accepts user stories throughout the iteration as developed functionality is completed by the team (develop on cadence)
  • Works with other Product Owners and Product Manager to determine impacts and interdependencies with other teams or ARTs.
  • Acts as customer advocate for team questions and seeks out opportunities to connect the team with end users, stakeholders, and customers to develop and improve their understanding and empathy of end user needs.
  • Interacts with stakeholders during iteration demos, or individually, to show the most critical aspects of a solution and negotiate the reality of systems solutions.
  • Collaborates with Product Manager to provide input to the Product Vision and Roadmap
  • Collaborates with Product Manager, Release Management, stakeholders, and team to define and plan for releases (Release on Demand)
  • Participates in the iteration demo and retrospective meetings to inspect and adapt the product or solution for the next iteration and the teams process for improvements in how they work to build solution increments.
  • Works with the team to ensure features, stories, and tasks are entered, maintained, and tracked in required Agile tooling solutions.
  • Applies Design Thinking concepts and techniques (user persona, customer journey maps, empathy maps)
  • Applies quantitative methods of prioritization, owns the team backlog, providing an iteration roadmap for delivery sequence, coordinated with dependencies, and aligned with the ART vision.
  • Creates team PI Objectives that represent the measurable business outcomes.
  • Has subject matter expertise of products and knowledge of the application dependencies.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Bachelors degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Math required. In addition to minimum experience, an additional four (4) years of relevant, demonstrated experience working as a key member of a project team developing business processes, solutions, creating business requirements and delivering business capabilities will be considered in lieu of a degree.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • Four (4) years of demonstrated Business Analyst/Product Owner experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Preferred in SAFe environment).
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND/OR LICENSURE
  • Knowledge of Agile and Lean values/concepts and great to have working knowledge of SAFe agile.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adapt, analyse, and understand complex ideas, break them down into smaller pieces of deliverable value sequentially, understanding interdependencies to deliver solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, collaborate, and craft user persona, customer journey, and story mapping.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft user stories using a variety of techniques like Gherkin (given, when, then)
  • Demonstrated ability to craft acceptance criteria leveraging non function requirements, Test Driven Development and/or Behavior Driven Development (preferred)
  • Experience with Product Life Cycle Management
  • Experience leveraging productivity and flow metrics (i.e., flow, Dora) (preferred)
  • Uses solutions-based thinking in problem solving, asking probing questions and looking for underlying issues.
  • Has technical knowledge to partner with technical leads as it relates to stories and the Agile Release Train.
  • Strong facilitation, written and verbal skills to guide team(s) to develop solutions that solve business needs.
  • Strong facilitation, active listening, and influencing skills with customers and Product Managers to understand the system and iteration capabilities for deliverables.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate business value delivery achievement and effort
  • Business acumen and ability to understand the larger company strategy.
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office and good to have the knowledge of Figma, Miro, and web-based applications.
  • Experience working with JIRA, digital.ai agility etc.
  • Understanding of an API based application and how it works.
  • Should have technical knowledge
