Role Overview
The Business Head - ECY Solutions will spearhead the growth and management of Calyx's PAN-India Empty Container Yard (ECY) Services, designed exclusively for liners. This role involves P&L ownership, developing strategic partnerships with global and regional shipping lines, expanding yard operations across India, and ensuring seamless service delivery with efficiency, transparency, and reliability.
The Business Head will be the face of the organization for liner relationships, responsible for scaling the ECY platform into a nationally recognized integrated solution for container management.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Engagement
Lead liner-focused business growth by acquiring and managing key accounts (global & regional shipping lines).
Build strategic partnerships with major liners to position Calyx as their preferred ECY partner.
Drive business expansion across ports, ICDs, and major cargo hubs in India.
Develop customized solutions for liners (storage, repair, reefer handling, transport, and visibility).
Represent Calyx at industry forums, exhibitions, and networking events.
Operations & Service Excellence
Ensure smooth operations at ECY facilities with a focus on faster turnaround, reduced dwell time, and optimized asset utilization.
Oversee end-to-end services: storage, inspection, repair, reefer PTI, and transportation.
Drive technology integration (IoT, digital tracking, centralized control) for operational transparency.
Set up and manage standardized processes across multiple yards for consistent customer experience.
P&L and Strategic Growth
Own the P&L for ECY business, delivering sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
Expand PAN-India yard presence in line with liner trade routes and cargo flows.
Identify new business opportunities in allied services (CFS, logistics, inland transport, repair hubs).
Develop business forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics.
Leadership & Team Development
Build and lead a high-performance commercial & operations team.
Drive a culture of customer centricity, innovation, and accountability.
Collaborate with technology, operations, and finance teams for seamless execution.
Mentor and develop next-generation leaders within the business vertical.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong relationships and network within the liner/shipping industry.
Proven expertise in container operations, yard management, and liner business development.
Ability to handle P&L responsibilities and drive revenue growth.
Strategic thinker with execution excellence.
Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
Tech-savvy mindset with exposure to digital platforms, IoT, and logistics automation.
Leadership qualities - ability to inspire, manage, and grow cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
Graduate / Postgraduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or Management.
MBA or equivalent qualification preferred.
15+ years of relevant experience in Shipping Lines, Container Yards, ICDs, or CFS operations, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Key Deliverables (First 12-18 Months)
Acquire 5-10 major liner contracts for ECY services across multiple ports.
Expand ECY footprint to at least 3-5 major hubs PAN-India.
Achieve X% increase in asset utilization and Y% reduction in dwell time for liner clients.
Deliver on P&L targets with consistent revenue growth and profitability.
Establish Calx ECY brand positioning as a trusted partner for liners in India.
