Job Summary:
As a Sales and Marketing Manager for Cargo Transportation (FTL & PTL), you will be responsible for driving revenue growth, building strategic partnerships, expanding the client base, and leading all marketing initiatives for the company's freight services. This role combines strategic planning, client relationship management, market analysis, and sales execution to grow the business in a competitive logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities for FTL and PTL services.
Generate qualified leads through cold calls, referrals, networking, and industry events.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, freight brokers, shippers, and logistics partners.
Understand client requirements and offer customized solutions.
Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
Customer Relationship Management
Maintain a customer database using CRM tools.
Ensure high customer satisfaction through after-sales service and support.
Handle customer queries, complaints, and freight issues promptly.
Marketing & Strategy
Develop and implement marketing campaigns (digital and offline) targeting specific sectors such as manufacturing, e-commerce, retail, pharma, etc.
Conduct competitor analysis and market research to identify trends and pricing strategies.
Work closely with the operations team to align service capabilities with market demand.
Collaborate on pricing strategies and service offerings to stay competitive.
Reporting & Analytics
Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports, forecasts, and customer insights.
Monitor sales performance metrics and provide actionable insights.
Analyze client profitability and service utilization trends.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of the logistics industry, particularly FTL and PTL models.
Proven experience in B2B sales and customer acquisition.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proficient in CRM systems, MS Office, and data reporting tools.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
5+ years of experience in logistics/transportation sales, with a focus on FTL and PTL services.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators):
Monthly/quarterly revenue growth.
New client acquisition count.
Customer retention rate.
Gross margin per shipment.
Market penetration (geographic or sector-specific).
