Client and Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and other stakeholders.
Strategy Development and Execution:
Develop and execute strategic sales and business plans to achieve and exceed sales targets and market share goals.
Lead Generation and Pitching:
Generate and qualify leads through networking, cold calling, email campaigns, and industry events. Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to client needs.
Negotiation and Closing Deals:
Lead or support negotiations, handle objections, and close agreements/contracts (e.g., purchase agreements, contract manufacturing agreements) ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Act as a liaison and coordinate with internal teams such as marketing, sales, product development, operations, logistics, and finance to ensure smooth functioning and aligned strategies.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
Track sales performance, manage the sales pipeline using CRM tools, and prepare periodic progress reports and performance updates for senior management.
Team Development:
In senior roles, responsibilities may include leading and mentoring a team of business development representatives and sales staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is standard; an MBA or a Master's degree is often preferred for higher-level positions.
Experience:
Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in business development or sales within the FMCG industry (food, beverages, personal care, home care, etc.)
