Job Description

Key Responsibilities:



1. Client Acquisition & Deal Origination



Identify and acquire corporate clients, promoters, startups, and mid-market enterprises for M&A, Fund raising, PE funding, debt syndication, and capital market transactions. Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential clients through networking, market research, and industry analysis. Collaborate with internal teams to structure client-specific solutions and pitch merchant banking services. Identify cross-selling opportunities across the firm's portfolio of financial services.

2. Relationship Management



Build and maintain long-term relationships with promoters, CXOs, private equity funds, venture capital firms, and institutional investors. Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their financial needs and strategic goals. Regularly engage with existing clients to explore new opportunities for business growth and repeat mandates.

3. Market Research & Sector Analysis



Conduct sector-specific research to identify emerging trends, market dynamics, and business opportunities across industries. Keep abreast of regulatory changes and capital market developments that may impact client transactions. Identify potential acquisition targets and investment opportunities for clients.

4. Pitch Development & Proposal Preparation



Prepare pitch books, investment proposals, and client presentations to secure mandates. Assist in preparing financial models, valuations, and investment memorandums in collaboration with the M&A/Transaction teams. Deliver compelling client presentations and negotiate engagement terms.

5. Coordination with Transaction Teams



Work closely with the M&A, IPO, and Debt Syndication teams to ensure smooth execution of client mandates. Manage the transaction lifecycle from mandate acquisition to deal closure, ensuring client satisfaction. Coordinate with legal, compliance, and regulatory teams to address deal-related formalities.

Key Skills & Competencies:



Good Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial statements, valuation techniques, capital structures, and deal structuring. Business Development Skills: Proven ability to source new clients, originate deals, and drive revenue growth. Client Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships with corporates, promoters, and investors. Market Research: Proficiency in conducting industry analysis and identifying business opportunities across sectors. Presentation & Negotiation Skills: Ability to prepare and deliver client pitches and negotiate engagement terms effectively. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with SEBI, RBI, FEMA, and Companies Act regulations related to merchant banking transactions.

Qualifications & Experience:



MBA in Finance, CA, or CFA Level I/II/III certification is preferred. 2-3 years of experience in business development, investment banking, merchant banking, or corporate finance. Proven track record of acquiring clients and closing deals in M&A, PE, debt syndication, or capital markets advisory. Strong network of corporate clients, promoters, PE/VC funds, and financial institutions is an added advantage.
