, catering to hospitals, pharmacies, and retailers. We are expanding our retail and distribution network and looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to lead field operations across multiple districts.
Role Overview
The
Business Development Manager (BDM)
will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing a team of field representatives, coordinating with distributors, and ensuring achievement of sales and visit targets across the assigned districts. The role demands strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with a hands-on approach to field execution.
Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Target Achievement
Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets across all assigned districts.
Monitor performance of each sales representative.
Track and analyze distributor-wise billing, orders, and secondary sales.
Ensure consistent market growth through expansion of retailer base.
2. Team Management
Lead and manage sales representatives across Trivandrum, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha.
Review field activities and visit data from the App.
Ensure each representative completes a minimum of
30 retail visits per day.
Conduct daily online reviews, weekly team video calls, and monthly review meetings.
3. Distributor Coordination
Liaise with appointed distributors in each district for stock, billing, and payment follow-up.
Ensure smooth communication between field staff and distributors for order placement and delivery.
Monitor stock flow of company products.
4. Planning & Reporting
Collect monthly
tour plans
from the sales team and ensure strict adherence.
Review and compile
area-wise distributor reports
twice per month.
Prepare and submit consolidated weekly and monthly sales performance reports to management.
Compare
POB (Purchase Order Book)
with
actual billed values
to monitor performance and conversion.
5. Brand Promotion & Market Development
Implement marketing activities, sampling drives, and promotional programs.
Identify potential retail and distribution opportunities for expanding reach.
Maintain strong relationships with retailers and ensure visibility of company products.
6. Compliance & Discipline
Ensure adherence to company SOPs, reporting formats, and timelines.
Monitor attendance, route plan, and visit compliance through digital tools.
Maintain team discipline, integrity, and ethical field practices.
Key Skills Required
Strong leadership and team-handling capability
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Excel and app-based reporting systems (Field Sense or similar)
Distributor and retail relationship management experience
Goal-oriented, proactive, and field-driven personality
Qualification
Graduate / Postgraduate in Business Administration, Marketing, or Life Sciences
Minimum 3 years of experience in
FMCG / Pharma / Healthcare sales management
