This is a Lead-level role designed for a senior analytics professional who can own analytics end-to-end while mentoring others. The career Growth Path shall be from Lead BI Analyst ? Analytics Manager / Head of BI; Platform-level ownership across domains (Retail, Finance, Surveillance, Growth); and strategic partner to Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead Business Intelligence Analyst to own and scale the organization's analytics function. This role combines hands-on technical execution with analytics leadership, metric governance, and stakeholder influence.

You will define what success looks like in data, ensure analytics are trusted, and drive insight-led decisions across the business. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build analytics foundations, not just reports.

Business Context & Analytics Ownership

You will lead analytics across multiple domains, including:

Retail & Operations Intelligence (store performance, labor efficiency, shrink)

Transaction & Financial Analytics (sales, margins, reconciliation, anomalies)

Pricing & Inventory Intelligence (movement, compliance, profitability)

Surveillance & Risk Analytics (pattern detection, exception monitoring)

You own:

Metric definitions

KPI frameworks

Reporting standards

Insight quality and consistency

Decision Impact & Leadership Exposure

Your work directly supports:

Executive leadership reviews

Product and platform roadmaps

Operational and financial decision-making

You will:

Present insights to senior leadership

Influence priorities using data

Serve as the final authority on analytics truth

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Leadership & Strategy

Define analytics vision, standards, and best practices

Establish KPI frameworks and metric governance

Prioritize analytics initiatives based on business impact

Data Analysis & Insights

Lead complex, high-impact analytical initiatives

Identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities

Guide teams from descriptive to diagnostic and predictive insights

Reporting & BI Platforms

Architect and oversee dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, Domo, and similar tools

Ensure performance, usability, and executive readiness

Drive adoption of self-service analytics with guardrails

ETL & Data Architecture

Oversee and contribute to ETL pipeline design and optimization

Partner with engineering on data modeling and pipeline scalability

Ensure reliable, auditable, and performant analytics pipelines

Data Platforms & Observability

Lead analytics usage of Snowflake and other cloud data platforms

Work with Elasticsearch, Grafana, or similar tools for operational analytics

Monitor pipeline health, latency, and data quality

Data Quality, Governance & Trust

Own data accuracy, reconciliation, and validation standards

Define data quality metrics and monitoring

Act as escalation point for analytics discrepancies

Mentorship & Team Enablement

Mentor BI analysts and analytics engineers

Conduct design and dashboard reviews

Raise the overall analytics maturity of the team

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations

Translate business strategy into measurable outcomes

Act as a trusted analytics advisor across teams

Data Scale & Complexity

Millions of transactions and records across systems

High-frequency and near real-time data pipelines

Multi-source ingestion (POS, financial, operational, surveillance)

Rapidly scaling data volume and use cases

Understand data landscape, business priorities, and existing reporting

Establish trust with leadership and key stakeholders

Take ownership of core KPIs and executive dashboards

Required Skills & Experience

Core Requirements

8-12+ years in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Leadership roles

Expert-level proficiency in Power BI

Strong hands-on experience with Tableau, Domo, or similar BI tools

Advanced SQL expertise across large datasets

Proven experience designing and overseeing ETL pipelines

Data & Platform Experience

Deep experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouses

Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Grafana, or observability platforms

Strong understanding of data modeling and analytics architecture
