Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with product managers, utilities experts, and stakeholders to understand business challenges, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
Translate domain-specific requirements into
user stories, functional specifications, and workflows
for product development.
Analyze processes related to
metering, billing, energy trading, distribution, outage management, customer engagement, and sustainability initiatives
.
Support product backlog grooming and sprint planning with clear, testable, and prioritized requirements.
Conduct
impact analysis
of new business initiatives, regulatory changes, and emerging energy trends (renewables, smart grids, EV charging, DERs).
Work with engineering teams to ensure alignment on data models, integrations (CIS, OMS, SCADA, AMI), and product design.
Validate solutions through
UAT, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder feedback
.
Perform
market research and competitive analysis
specific to utilities products and technologies.
Provide insights from data analysis to drive efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, Energy Management, Information Systems, or related field.
3-7 years of experience as a
Business Analyst in Energy & Utilities domain
(Power, Gas, Water).
Strong understanding of
utility business processes
:
o Customer Information Systems (CIS)
o Metering & Billing (AMI/MDM)
o Outage & Work Management (OMS/WMS)
o Regulatory & compliance requirements
Experience working in
Agile/Scrum product development
environment.
Proficiency in tools like
JIRA, Confluence, MS Visio, Figma
, or equivalents.
Excellent
analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
.
Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex utility processes into clear requirements.
Nice to Have
Exposure to
utility data analytics, IoT, AI/ML use cases
.
Familiarity with
industry standards
such as CIM, OpenADR, IEC, ISO/RTO market rules.
Basic knowledge of
SQL, BI tools, or API documentation
.
