We're looking for a sharp and experienced Business Analyst (E-commerce) to join our growing product and development teams. In this role, you'll be the crucial link between our business stakeholders and technical teams, deeply understanding the nuances of e-commerce operations and customer journeys.
You'll be responsible for eliciting, analyzing, and documenting requirements for new features, platform enhancements, and system integrations that directly impact our e-commerce success.
Key Responsibilities:
E-commerce Requirements Elicitation:
Collaborate extensively with e-commerce stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Operations, Product Managers, UX/UI Designers) to identify and document detailed business needs for online store features, back-end processes, and integrations.
Conduct in-depth analysis of customer journeys, checkout flows, product catalog management, order fulfillment, promotions, and return processes.
Facilitate workshops and interviews to uncover pain points and opportunities for optimizing the e-commerce experience.
Solution Analysis & Design:
Translate high-level business requirements into clear, concise, and comprehensive functional and non-functional specifications specific to e-commerce platforms.
Create detailed documentation, including user stories, use cases, process flows (e.g., for order processing, inventory updates), data flow diagrams, and UI wireframes/mockups.
Perform gap analysis between existing e-commerce capabilities and desired functionalities.
Work closely with technical architects and developers to design scalable and robust e-commerce solutions that align with platform capabilities and best practices.
Platform & Integration Management:
Analyze requirements for integrating e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud) with third-party systems like ERP, CRM, payment gateways, shipping carriers, marketing automation tools, and analytics platforms.
Understand data mapping and API specifications for seamless system interoperability.
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
Serve as the primary liaison between business units and development teams, ensuring mutual understanding and alignment on project scope and requirements.
Present and validate documented requirements with stakeholders, managing expectations and securing sign-offs.
Proactively communicate project status, risks, and changes to relevant parties.
Testing & Validation:
Collaborate with QA teams to develop comprehensive test plans and define user acceptance criteria for e-commerce features.
Support and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), guiding users, gathering feedback, and ensuring that the implemented solutions meet the original business objectives.
Process Optimization:
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve existing e-commerce business processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: 3-6 years of proven experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 2+ years
specifically in an e-commerce domain (working on online stores, marketplaces, or related
systems).
Strong understanding of core e-commerce concepts: customer journey, product information management (PIM), order management (OMS), inventory management, pricing, promotions, payment gateways, shipping, SEO, and analytics.
Familiarity with major e-commerce platforms like Shopify (especially Shopify Plus), Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or similar enterprise-level platforms.
Requirements Management:
Expertise in various requirements elicitation techniques (interviews, workshops, brainstorming, competitive analysis).
Strong ability to write clear, concise, and complete e-commerce specific requirements (User Stories, Use Cases, BRD/FSD).
Proficiency with Agile project management and requirement tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities tailored to e-commerce challenges.
Ability to break down complex e-commerce problems into smaller, manageable components.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate
technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills for e-commerce specific discussions.
A strong servant-leader mindset with a collaborative approach.
Basic understanding of API integrations (REST/SOAP) relevant to connecting e-commerc platforms with external systems.
Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how they apply to e-commerce storefronts.
Knowledge of e-commerce analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) and A/B testing
concepts.
Solid experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, and CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) are a significant advantage.
Bonus Points (Nice to Have):
Experience with specific e-commerce modules or apps (e.g., loyalty programs, subscriptions, advanced search).
Understanding of UI/UX principles for e-commerce user experience optimization.
Familiarity with SQL for data analysis related to e-commerce metrics.
