Designation - Building Materials Testing Technician

Location - Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Salem

We are hiring a

Building Materials Testing Technician

to support field and laboratory testing of construction materials. The role involves sample collection, test execution, data recording, and assisting engineers in maintaining quality standards in accordance with IS/ASTM/BS codes.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect samples of construction materials (soil, sand, cement, aggregates, concrete, bricks, bitumen, etc.) from project sites. Conduct basic laboratory and field tests such as: Sieve analysis Specific gravity Slump test Compressive strength test Moisture content Water absorption Assist engineers in preparing test reports and documentation. Operate and maintain testing equipment in good working condition. Follow testing procedures and standards (IS, ASTM, BS). Maintain cleanliness, calibration logs, and test records of the laboratory. Support site teams by delivering results promptly and accurately. Adhere to safety protocols and company policies during testing operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

ITI / Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field. 2-4 years of experience in material testing (freshers may also apply). Basic knowledge of material testing procedures and IS codes. Hands-on experience with standard testing tools and equipment. Ability to accurately record and communicate test findings. Physically fit and willing to work on construction sites and labs. Good teamwork and communication skills.

Pay: ?12,000.00 - ?15,000.00 per month
