About Aralam Farming Corporation (Kerala) Limited

Aralam Farm was originally established by the Government of India in the year 1970, with the support of the erstwhile USSR. The farm is spread over 3040 hectares of land and was subsequently taken over by the SC & ST Development Department, Government of Kerala along with assets and liabilities on 21/6/2004, from the Government of India. Subsequently, 50% of the area was distributed for the resettlement of scheduled tribes and Aralam Farm was incorporated as a Government-owned Private Limited company in the name of Aralam Farming Corporation (Kerala) Limited', under the Companies Act 1956, under the administrative control of SC/ST Dev. Department, on 10/6/2010. The farm is divided into 7 blocks & and a central nursery for better management. Each block is headed by a block in charge. There is a nursery of saplings of various crops like coconut seedlings, cashew grafts, pepper cuttings, mango grafts, cocoa grafts, etc. and the nursery has the capacity to produce 15.00 lakhs saplings.

About the internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Working on crop planning and execution
2. Working on processing and value addition and marketing
3. Providing assistance in identification of pests and diseases and their effective organic control measures
3. Working on nursery management
4. Working on economics, cost of cultivation, and implementation measures to improve farm productivity
