Survey & Claims Management
Will have to carry out survey, loss assessment, and claim investigations for commercial and industrial insurance losses
If the volume increases, suitable additional manpower would be provided.
Ensure accurate determination of cause, extent of loss, policy applicability, and liability
Review, validate, and approve survey reports before submission to insurers
Handle high-value, complex, and sensitive claims personally when required
Branch Operations Management
Manage end-to-end surveying operations across the branch
Allocate cases to surveyors and ensure timely site visits and report submissions
Monitor turnaround times (TAT), quality standards, and compliance metrics
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and performance-manage surveyor teams
Conduct technical reviews, training sessions, and knowledge sharing
Ensure continuous skill development in commercial risk assessment and policy interpretation
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for insurers, brokers, reinsurers, and corporate clients
Address escalations, disputes, and clarifications related to survey findings
Participate in joint surveys, meetings, and claim negotiations
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations, professional codes, and internal SOPs
Maintain proper documentation, audit readiness, and ethical standards
Ensure surveyor licensing, renewals, and statutory requirements are met
Risk & Technical Advisory
Provide technical guidance on loss prevention, risk mitigation, and underwriting feedback
Support insurers with pre-risk inspections and large-risk evaluations when required
Analyze loss trends and provide insights to improve claims handling and risk management
Reporting & MIS
Prepare Branch MIS reports on claim volumes, severity, TAT, and closures
Track KPIs and provide periodic updates to senior management
Maintain accurate digital records and claims management systems
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in commercial and industrial insurance claims
In-depth knowledge of fire, engineering, marine, liability, and property policies
Excellent analytical, report-writing, and investigation skills
Leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management abilities
High integrity and attention to detail
Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Electrical) or equivalent
Membership of the Institute of Insurance Surveyors & Loss Assessors (IISLA)
Valid IRDAI Surveyor & Loss Assessor License
Experience
10-15 years of experience in commercial insurance surveying
Minimum 4-6 years in a managerial or leadership role
Experience in handling large and complex commercial claims
Other Requirements
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned branch territory
Proficiency in claims management systems and MS Office
Strong written and verbal communication skills
