Estimator/Asst. Architect Roles and Responsibilities

Costing and Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for architectural projects based on the Bills of Quantities (BOQ). Analyse project specifications and drawings to identify the required quantities of materials, labour, and equipment. Research and gather pricing information for materials, subcontractors, and other project expenses. Utilize estimation software and tools to calculate costs and generate comprehensive reports. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure accurate estimations. BOQ Preparation: Assist in the creation and maintenance of detailed Bills of Quantities. Review architectural plans, drawings, and specifications to extract the necessary information for BOQ preparation. Identify and quantify individual project components, materials, and labor requirements. Organize and present the BOQ in a clear and logical format, ensuring all elements are accurately represented. Project Coordination: Collaborate with the project team to ensure smooth execution of the estimation process. Communicate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary inputs for costing. Coordinate with the procurement team to obtain up-to-date pricing information for materials and subcontracted services. Participate in project meetings to provide cost-related inputs and insights. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, cost factors, laws, and regulations. Research and implement best practices in cost estimation techniques, tools, and methodologies. Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge related to estimation. Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and quality of estimates and BOQs produced. Validate estimation calculations and assumptions to minimize potential errors and omissions. Review and verify the completeness and consistency of BOQs with project requirements. Collaborate with the QA/QC team to address any discrepancies or issues identified during the estimation process.
