B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in welding, fabrication, and production.
Skills:
Expertise in welding processes (MIG, TIG, SMAW) and structural fabrication.
Experience in boom manufacturing or heavy structural fabrication
Hands-on experience in CNC cutting, bending, and robotic welding (preferred).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems for production tracking.
Responsibilities
Production & Manufacturing:
Supervise the fabrication, welding, and assembly of booms as per engineering drawings and production schedules.
Ensure adherence to welding procedures (MIG, TIG, SMAW) and international welding standards.
Monitor and control key manufacturing processes, including cutting, bending, and machining.
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle time.
Coordinate with the design and quality teams for prototype development and production optimization.
Welding & Quality Assurance:
Ensure the correct selection and usage of welding consumables, fixtures, and jigs.
Conduct regular inspections for weld defects, structural integrity, and dimensional accuracy.
Work with the QA team to ensure compliance with ISO, ASME, and other relevant quality standards.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to minimize rework and defects.
Process Optimization & Lean Manufacturing:
Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Identify bottlenecks in the production process and suggest process enhancements.
Maintain accurate production records, downtime logs, and efficiency reports.
Team Coordination & Supervision:
Supervise welders, fitters, and fabricators in the boom production unit.
Conduct training programs for welders on best practices, safety standards, and new technologies.
Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure machine uptime and minimize breakdowns.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols in welding and fabrication areas.
Conduct safety audits and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with environmental and workplace safety regulations.
