Job Description

Roles and responsibilities of a boiler operator:

1.

Boiler Operation:

Start, operate, and shut down boilers, ensuring they are running efficiently. Monitor gauges, meters, and other indicators to maintain proper operating conditions. Adjust the controls and settings of the boiler to ensure optimal performance.

Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance on boilers, including cleaning, lubrication, and checking for wear and tear. Inspect and test the equipment regularly to identify any issues or potential hazards. Schedule and perform preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
3.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. Monitor for leaks, excessive pressure, or any signs of malfunction that could lead to unsafe conditions. Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and safety checks as required by regulations.
4.

Troubleshooting:

Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or operational problems with the boiler system. Take corrective action quickly in case of faults or emergencies. Work with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve complex technical issues.
5.

Water Treatment:

Monitor water quality and ensure that water treatment processes (such as adding chemicals) are correctly implemented to prevent boiler scaling or corrosion. Maintain water levels and check for water quality through testing.
Boiler operators need to have a good understanding of mechanical systems, safety procedures, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.
