Job Description

A boiler operator is responsible for operating and maintaining boilers and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient heating and power generation. Their duties include monitoring gauges, performing routine maintenance and repairs, testing water and fuel levels, and keeping detailed logs of the boiler's performance. This role requires attention to detail and physical stamina to ensure everything runs properly and to prevent malfunctions or safety hazards. Key responsibilities

Operation and monitoring:

Adjusting, operating, and monitoring boilers to maintain optimal performance and safety. This includes closely watching meters, gauges, and controls for factors like pressure, temperature, and fuel and water levels.

Maintenance and repair:

Performing routine maintenance, identifying and troubleshooting issues, and repairing or replacing damaged parts and equipment.

Inspections:

Conducting frequent inspections of boiler systems, piping, valves, and other related machinery.

Testing:

Regularly testing water quality to check for issues like corrosion and ensuring appropriate levels of chemicals, fuel, and water.

Record keeping:

Maintaining accurate logs of daily operation, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.

Safety and cleanliness:

Following established safety procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
