The Boiler DCS Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the boiler and associated auxiliaries through the
Distributed Control System (DCS)
to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous power generation. The role involves real-time process control, parameter logging, coordination with field operators, and immediate action during abnormalities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate, monitor, and control
boiler operations through the DCS panel
.
Maintain optimal parameters for:
Steam pressure & temperature
Fuel feeding
Bed temperature (for AFBC/CFBC/biomass boilers)
Airflow, draft, and combustion efficiency
Coordinate with
field operators
for start-up, shutdown, and routine checks.
Respond to
alarms, trips, and abnormal operating conditions
promptly.
Monitor and control:
ID / FD / PA fans
Fuel feeders & stokers
Air preheaters
ESP / pollution control systems
Maintain
shift logbook
with operating data and event records.
Assist in
boiler soot blowing, bed draining, ash handling
operations.
Coordinate with the maintenance team during breakdowns.
Track and report
fuel consumption, steam generation, and heat rate
.
Ensure
compliance with safety & environmental SOPs
.
Implement operational strategies to improve
efficiency and reduce downtime
.
Qualifications:
Education:
Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, Power Plant, or Instrumentation
Boiler Attendant Certificate (1st or 2nd Class) preferred.
Experience:
2-7 years in boiler/DCS operations in Thermal, Biomass, or Captive Power Plants
Skills & Competencies:
Hands-on experience with
DCS systems
(e.g., Siemens, ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa).
Knowledge of
CFBC/AFBC/PF/Biomass boilers
.
Strong understanding of
boiler auxiliaries and combustion systems
.
Ability to handle
emergency shutdowns and trip conditions
.
Good coordination with CHP, Turbine, Water Treatment & Electrical teams.
Knowledge of
safety practices, firefighting & PPE compliance
.
Record-keeping and basic computer skills.
Work Environment:
Shift-based role
(rotational).
Control Room & occasional field supervision.
Coordination with multiple departments under time-critical conditions.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
