Key Responsibilities

Donor Interaction:

Screen donors, draw blood (phlebotomy), and ensure donor comfort.

Testing & Processing:

Perform blood typing, antibody screening, and cross-matching; separate blood into components (plasma, platelets, etc.).

Storage & Inventory:

Label, store, and manage blood unit inventory, ensuring proper conditions.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct quality control checks, maintain equipment, and follow strict safety/regulatory protocols.

Documentation:

Maintain detailed, confidential donor and patient records.

Preparation:

Prepare blood products for transfusions and surgeries, collaborating with medical teams.
Essential Skills & Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's in Medical Technology or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in laboratory equipment, blood banking software, and sterile techniques.

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, manual dexterity, and good communication.

Certifications:

Certification (like ASCP) is often required or preferred.
