for Blood Bank Technician

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Diploma.

Experience:

Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or blood bank preferred.

Skills:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with laboratory information systems and data entry. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines. Good communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, label, and process blood donations and blood components (e.g., plasma, platelets, red cells). Perform blood typing, crossmatching, antibody screening, and compatibility testing. Conduct infectious disease screening and quality control testing following established protocols. Ensure proper storage, inventory, and labeling of blood and blood products. Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. Prepare and issue blood and components for transfusion to patients as requested. Maintain detailed and accurate donor and patient records. Adhere to all safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards. Assist in donor recruitment, education, and counseling as needed. Comply with national regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., FDA, AABB, CLIA, CAP).
