Block Coordinator

Job Description

To supervise, coordinate, support and ensure effective implementation of development and governance programs at the block level in collaboration with Panchayati Raj Institutions, line departments, community institutions, NGOs, etc. Ensure convergence of departmental schemes and strengthen grassroots democracy through participatory governance.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Implementation

Assist in preparation of block?level plans, strategies and annual work plans aligned with district and state goals. Ensure that government schemes (e.g. rural development, livelihoods, water & sanitation, social welfare) are implemented effectively in Panchayats under the block. Liaise with Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samiti, and other local bodies to ensure program alignment and coordination.

Coordination & Convergence

Act as interface between Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), line departments (Agriculture, Health, Education, etc.), NGOs, and development partners at block level. Facilitate convergence of resources and efforts, avoid duplication, and promote integrated development.

Supervision & Capacity Building

Mentor, supervise, and support field staff such as Panchayat Facilitators, Community Mobilisers, Social Workers. Conduct training workshops, orientation sessions and handholding support for PRI members and field staff.

Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management

Monitor progress of program implementation through periodic field visits, reviews, and evaluations. Collect, verify and analyze data from Panchayats, maintain MIS dashboards. Prepare and submit monthly / quarterly / annual reports, success stories, case studies. Use data to identify gaps, suggest corrective actions, and feed into planning cycles.

Community Mobilization & Stakeholder Engagement

Facilitate community meetings, Gram Sabhas, participatory planning, social audits. Promote citizen engagement, transparency, accountability, and social inclusion (especially of marginalized groups). Build awareness and foster participatory governance among communities.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Ensure that program activities comply with government guidelines, financial norms, audit requirements. Ensure timely release and utilization of funds, and proper documentation. Risk identification, mitigation, and oversight of quality standards.

Other Duties

Support external audits, evaluations, third-party assessments. Represent the project or department in meetings at block / district / state levels. Any other tasks assigned by superior officers or the department.
Qualifications & Experience

Education

: Graduate in Social Sciences / Rural Development / Public Administration / Management or equivalent. Postgraduate degree is often an advantage.

Experience

: Minimum 2-5 years (or as required) of experience in rural development, governance, program implementation, NGO / government projects. Experience working with Panchayati Raj Institutions, government departments, community organizations is desirable.

Pay: ₹10,086.00 - ₹20,268.21 per month
