Job Description

Role Overview:



The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of medical equipment and systems used in healthcare settings. This role involves collaborating with clinical staff to ensure that equipment meets the needs of patient care, complies with safety regulations, and enhances operational efficiency within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:



Equipment Design and Development

: Participate in the design, evaluation, and modification of medical devices and systems to improve performance and safety. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new biomedical technologies and solutions.

Installation and Calibration

: Oversee the installation and calibration of medical equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards. Provide technical guidance during the setup of new devices, ensuring proper functionality and safety.

Maintenance and Support

: Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for biomedical equipment, including preventive and corrective actions. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to biomedical devices, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical services.

Regulatory Compliance

: Ensure all biomedical equipment and systems comply with healthcare regulations and safety standards, including documentation and reporting. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements affecting biomedical engineering practices.

Technical Training

: Provide training and support to clinical staff on the safe and effective use of medical equipment. Develop training materials and user manuals for new devices and technologies.

Research and Development

: Stay abreast of advancements in biomedical technology, conducting research to identify innovative solutions for patient care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop new biomedical applications and devices that enhance patient outcomes.

Project Management

: Manage projects related to the acquisition, implementation, and evaluation of biomedical equipment and systems. Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans to ensure successful project completion.

Collaboration with Vendors

: Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers for the procurement of biomedical devices and components. Evaluate vendor performance and service agreements, ensuring timely and cost-effective support.

Data Analysis and Reporting

: Analyze data related to equipment performance, maintenance, and user feedback to identify areas for improvement. Prepare reports and presentations for hospital administration on the status of biomedical equipment and ongoing projects.

Emergency Response

: Be available for on-call support to address urgent equipment issues that may arise during clinical operations. Assist in troubleshooting equipment failures during critical situations, ensuring continuity of patient care.
