Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified
Biofuel Researcher
to join our R&D team. The successful candidate will lead and support research initiatives focused on developing, optimizing, and scaling up biofuel production technologies, especially biodiesel and ethanol-blended fuel solutions. This role requires a strong scientific foundation, hands-on laboratory skills, and a passion for sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale experiments for biodiesel, ethanol, and advanced biofuel production.
Analyze feedstocks such as used cooking oil, animal fats, and lignocellulosic biomass for conversion potential.
Design and optimize transesterification, fermentation, and esterification processes.
Evaluate the impact of catalysts, enzymes, and process conditions on yield and quality.
Collaborate with chemical engineers, production staff, and quality control to scale lab findings to plant-level operations.
Perform physicochemical testing of fuel properties (e.g., calorific value, viscosity, flash point, etc.).
Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and research reports.
Stay updated with emerging technologies, regulatory guidelines (BIS, ASTM, CPCB, etc.), and government policies.
Support patent filings, journal publications, and R&D grant proposals.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of biofuel chemistry and production processes.
Hands-on experience with GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, or similar analytical instruments.
Knowledge of feedstock characterization, life cycle assessment (LCA), and carbon footprint calculations.
Proficiency in experimental design and data analysis (e.g., using Excel, R, or MATLAB).
Good communication and scientific writing skills.
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications (not mandatory):
MASTER In a relevant field with published research in biofuels or renewable energy.
Experience with commercial-scale biodiesel or ethanol plants.
Familiarity with Indian and international fuel standards.
