Biomedical Service Engineer - Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Biomedical Service Engineer to join our technical services team, responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment in healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will ensure medical devices operate safely and efficiently to support optimal patient care and clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair



Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and calibrations on biomedical equipment according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues with medical devices and systems Execute corrective maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime Replace defective components and perform system upgrades as needed Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate service records

Installation & Commissioning



Install new biomedical equipment and systems in clinical environments Conduct site preparation assessments and coordinate installation logistics Perform acceptance testing, calibration, and validation of newly installed equipment Provide equipment orientation and training to clinical staff

Quality Assurance & Compliance



Conduct electrical safety testing and performance verification testing Maintain compliance with biomedical equipment management programs Participate in quality assurance audits and regulatory inspections

Technical Support & Customer Service



Respond to service calls and equipment failure notifications Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clinical staff Maintain positive relationships with healthcare facility personnel Communicate equipment status and recommendations to facility management Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for warranty and technical support
Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications



Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or related technical field Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Technical Experience



2-4 years of experience in biomedical equipment service and maintenance Hands-on experience with medical devices such as patient monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, imaging equipment, or surgical instruments Experience with test equipment including electrical safety analyzers and multimeters

Technical Skills



Knowledge of medical device regulations and safety standards

Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field Experience with specific equipment types relevant to assigned territory Knowledge of hospital information systems and medical device connectivity Previous experience in healthcare or clinical environments
Working Conditions

Field-based position requiring travel to multiple healthcare facilities On-call availability for emergency service calls Work in various clinical environments including operating rooms, ICUs, and patient care areas Exposure to hospital environment including potential biological hazards Flexible schedule with occasional evening and weekend work
