Job Description

The BIM Modeller will play a key role in bridging design and technology by producing precise digital models, detailed CAD drawings, and well-coordinated outputs across multiple design platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Enscape). Beyond drafting and modeling, this role requires establishing Revit standards for the office, developing workflows that improve efficiency, and ensuring seamless coordination across teams. The BIM Modeller will also mentor and train architects in BIM methodologies, fostering a culture of best practices and digital excellence in the office.

Key Responsibilities1. Drafting & Modelling

Prepare high-quality architectural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details) in AutoCAD and Revit. Translate conceptual models from SketchUp into accurate, data-rich BIM models. Generate 3D models and ensure geometry accuracy, material application, and detail completeness. Assist architects in producing construction-ready documentation and visualization files.

2. Software Integration & Workflow Management

Coordinate and manage workflows between

AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Enscape

, ensuring smooth model transitions. Export and import models while retaining accuracy, layers, and material information. Troubleshoot interoperability issues and suggest workflow improvements. Assist design teams in preparing presentation-ready models and renderings.

3. Revit Standards & Documentation

Develop, implement, and maintain

office-wide Revit standards

, templates, and libraries. Define

naming conventions, layer structures, family libraries, view templates, and sheet setups

. Document workflows and create

BIM execution guidelines

tailored to the office's projects. Ensure all models follow structured best practices, optimizing for performance and coordination.

4. Training & Mentorship

Train architects and interns in

basic to advanced Revit workflows

. Conduct group workshops and one-on-one troubleshooting sessions. Develop

training manuals, cheat sheets, and quick reference guides

for office use. Support the transition of architects from CAD/SKP-based workflows into fully integrated BIM practices.

5. Collaboration & Quality Control

Collaborate closely with project architects and designers to align digital models with design intent. Perform regular

model audits

to ensure accuracy, file cleanliness, and adherence to standards. Flag inconsistencies early and resolve coordination issues across software platforms. Maintain quality benchmarks for both technical drawings and visual outputs.

Required Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in

Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape

(mandatory). Strong knowledge of

BIM standards, Revit family creation, and template setup

. Understanding of architectural design processes, construction documentation, and detailing. Ability to train and mentor architects in BIM workflows. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong organizational skills to manage libraries, templates, and office-wide standards. Collaborative mindset with attention to precision and deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree/diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field. Minimum

2-4 years

of professional experience in BIM/Revit modeling for architectural projects. Experience in developing BIM execution plans and standards. Prior exposure to project coordination between multiple software platforms is preferred.

3-Phase Onboarding & Performance RoadmapPhase 1: Orientation & Initial Setup (Month 1)

Get acquainted with office projects, team workflows, and current file structures. Review existing CAD/Revit files and SketchUp workflows. Audit current Revit usage and identify pain points/gaps. Begin drafting the

Revit Standards Manual

(templates, libraries, naming conventions, etc.). Support teams in day-to-day drafting/modeling tasks to understand workflow challenges.

Expected Outcome:

Clear understanding of office processes, draft version of Revit standards, and initial support provided to architects.

Phase 2: Implementation & Training (Month 2)

Finalize and roll out

Revit standards

(templates, libraries, view settings). Conduct

introductory Revit training sessions

for architects. Introduce optimized workflows for CAD-Revit-SketchUp-Enscape coordination. Create quick guides/manuals for everyday office use. Review active project models for compliance with new standards.

Expected Outcome:

Revit standards adopted in active projects, team trained on core workflows, smoother cross-platform coordination.

Phase 3: Optimization & Leadership (Month 3)

Conduct

advanced Revit and BIM training workshops

(worksharing, phasing, detailing, visualization). Provide one-on-one mentorship and troubleshooting for staff. Refine Revit templates and libraries based on feedback from projects. Ensure models are optimized for performance and design coordination. Position as the

BIM lead support

for the office.

Expected Outcome:

Fully established BIM standards, architects confidently using Revit, and office workflows optimized across platforms.

Growth Path

This role has potential to evolve into

BIM Coordinator / BIM Manager

, overseeing larger teams, implementing advanced BIM strategies, and leading digital transformation initiatives within the office.
