Job Title: BESS System Design Engineer

Reports To: Technical Lead / Head of Engineering

Job Overview:

We are seeking a technically proficient Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Design Engineer with 2-5 years of experience in designing and delivering BESS and solar-hybrid energy projects. The candidate should be well-versed in solar PV systems and integration with BESS for applications such as peak shaving, backup, and grid support.

What You'll Be Doing:

Design and oversee integration of complete BESS systems with solar (PV + BESS), wind, and hybrid renewable energy solutions.

Sizing of energy and power requirements for hybrid and standalone systems (both DC and AC Up to 33kV coupled).

Preparation of SLDs, control diagrams, and layouts for engineering packages.

Equipment selection: battery technology, PCS, EMS, cabling, protection, FDSS etc.

Grid compliance (IEEE/IEC), efficiency modeling, and safety standards.

Coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and clients during design and commissioning.

Support documentation for FAT, SAT, and technical validation of at least 2-3 commissioned projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Power / Energy Engineering.

2-5 years' experience in solar and energy storage system design.

Proven delivery of 2-3 solar/BESS or hybrid energy projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, HOMER, PVSyst, MATLAB, etc.

Understanding of BMS, EMS, PCS logic, and PV+BESS control strategies.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in lithium-ion battery systems (LFP/NMC chemistry).

Knowledge of SCADA/PLC and communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, IEC 61850).

Certifications in solar energy systems or BESS design (UL/IEEE/IEC).
