The Barman is responsible for delivering exceptional beverage service to guests, ensuring high standards of product quality, guest engagement, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have excellent bartending skills, sound product knowledge, and a warm, professional demeanor consistent with the standards of a 5-star business hotel.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as per hotel standards and guest preferences.
Greet guests warmly, take orders accurately, and ensure timely service.
Provide recommendations based on guest tastes and promote signature cocktails and premium beverages.
Maintain a welcoming and engaging bar atmosphere while ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.
Operations & Beverage Preparation
Ensure all beverages are prepared according to standard recipes, presentation, and hygiene guidelines.
Operate bar equipment safely and efficiently.
Handle POS transactions, billing, and cash/credit settlements accurately.
Manage inventory, stock rotation, requisitions, and ensure par levels are maintained.
Hygiene & Safety
Maintain cleanliness of the bar counter, equipment, glassware, and surrounding service area.
Ensure compliance with hotel SOPs, HACCP guidelines, and local food safety regulations.
Follow responsible alcohol service protocols and maintain guest safety.
Sales & Upselling
Maximize revenue through effective upselling of wines, spirits, cocktails, and promotions.
Assist in designing or recommending new cocktails and themed beverage offerings.
Participate in hotel promotional activities, events, and banquets as required.
Teamwork & Coordination
Work closely with bar team members, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow.
Attend daily briefings and training sessions to enhance skills and product knowledge.
Assist in mentoring new staff members when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 1-3 years of bartending experience, preferably in a 5-star or upscale hospitality environment.
Diploma or certification in Hotel Management, Bartending, or Mixology preferred.
Strong knowledge of spirits, wines, cocktails, and beverage trends.
Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Malayalam or Hindi is a plus.
Positive attitude, grooming excellence, and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry bar supplies and stock (up to 20 kg).
