Job Description

A ball boy's primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth flow of a sporting event by quickly retrieving and providing balls to players and officials. This includes tasks like gathering balls from the court, distributing them to players, and sometimes even providing towels and drinks. Being a ball boy requires attentiveness, agility, and a good understanding of the game's rules.

Key Responsibilities:

Retrieving balls:

Quickly and efficiently collecting balls that go out of play during a match.

Distributing balls:

Providing players with the correct number of balls, often at the start of a point or during changeovers.

Assisting players:

May include providing towels, drinks, or other items as needed.

Maintaining order:

Ensuring the court is clear of stray balls and other potential hazards.

Following instructions:

Adhering to the specific rules and procedures of the event.

Being attentive:

Paying close attention to the game and anticipating the needs of players and officials.

Maintaining discretion:

Avoiding any actions that could distract players or disrupt the game.
