Cafe Cotinga is seeking a skilled and creative Baker to produce high-quality baked goods including breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and specialty items. You'll be responsible for preparing all baked items according to established recipes, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring fresh, delicious products are available daily for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, mix, and knead various doughs and batters for breads, pastries, and desserts
Measure and weigh ingredients accurately using proper equipment and scales
Set oven temperatures and monitor baking times to ensure perfect results
Shape, mold, and form dough into bread, rolls, and pastry items
Decorate and finish baked goods with frosting, icing, glazes, and toppings
Bake items according to recipes, maintaining consistent quality and appearance
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bakery area and equipment
Organize, stock, and rotate inventory to minimize waste and spoilage
Create and maintain production schedules to meet daily demand
Monitor ingredient quality and report any issues immediately
Operate commercial baking equipment safely and efficiently
Suggest new recipes and products to update the bakery menu
Assist team members during peak production hours
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
Required Qualifications
2-3 years of baking or pastry experience in a professional bakery, cafe, or restaurant
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and baking science
Ability to follow recipes precisely and maintain consistency across batches
Excellent time management and ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environment
Meticulous attention to detail with commitment to quality
Ability to stand for extended hours, lift heavy items, and work in warm environments
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
Punctual, dependable, and professional attitude
Basic English and Hindi proficiency
High school diploma or equivalent (Culinary training preferred)
Preferred Skills
Pastry and cake decorating experience
Knowledge of specialty diets (gluten-free, vegan, sugar-free)
Experience with commercial baking equipment
Recipe development and innovation skills
Culinary school training or certification
