We are looking for an Experienced Search Engineer to empower millions of people across the globe by helping them connect and share their goods and services. \

What You will be doing

• Evolve and grow world-class OLX search services deployed across different geographies, serving search queries at tens of millisecond latencies, while simultaneously handling updates to millions of ads worldwide.
• Immerse yourself in imagining and providing cutting-edge solutions to large-scale information retrieval and machine learning (ML) problems.
• Have a relentless focus on scalability, latency, performance robustness, and cost trade-offs -- especially those present in highly virtualized, elastic, cloud-based environments.
• Apply scientific analysis and mathematical modeling techniques to predict, measure and evaluate the consequences of designs and the ongoing success of our platform.
• Alongside a dedicated operations team, develop and support, the smooth 24x7 operation of our service.

Who we are looking for

• Experience developing search solutions using search platforms (e.g. Elastic, Solr, Lucene, Lucidworks).
• Strong problem solving skills and proficiency with Data Structures & Algorithms
• Hands-on experience building applications/services/APIs using JAVA / Python frameworks.
• Have design and architecture skills, as well as a solid grasp of Object Oriented design patterns
• Familiar with Git, Maven, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines , and TDD approach used to automate build and deployment
• Experience with evaluating existing search architectures and identifying optimizations in terms of indexing, search and query performance tuning.
• Experience building search solutions using different data stores (SQL, NoSQL, Kafka) and open source technologies (Redis/ElasticCache)
• Experience in developing scalable and memory efficient application

Good to have

• Have experience in designing and validating search relevance and ranking models.
• Experience writing and maintaining scalable and distributed search infrastructure solutions for high traffic applications
• Have developed solutions in a Cloud Native landscape using containerization, orchestration, and microservices , preferably in AWS
• Familiarity with Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, streaming systems is a plus.
