What You'll Do
Technical Leadership
Define the backend architecture strategy to support scalability, reliability, and security.
Oversee the design and development of distributed, microservices-based applications.
Set high standards for engineering excellence--covering code quality, testing, performance, and system design.
Champion continuous improvement by evaluating and introducing new technologies, frameworks, and practices.
People & Team Development
Lead and grow a team of backend engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and innovation.
Provide mentorship, regular feedback, and personalized growth plans for engineers at all levels.
Build effective hiring and onboarding practices to attract and retain top technical talent.
Inspire and motivate teams through clarity of vision, empathy, and strong leadership.
Delivery & Execution
Partner with Product, QA, and DevOps to ensure smooth and predictable delivery cycles.
Translate complex business requirements into clear technical goals and actionable roadmaps.
Proactively manage risks, remove roadblocks, and ensure projects are delivered on time with high quality.
Implement agile processes that balance speed, quality, and technical debt reduction.
Strategic Impact
Influence the long-term technology roadmap and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Establish and track engineering KPIs (e.g., velocity, quality, system uptime, incident response).
Drive initiatives that enhance system scalability, developer productivity, and customer experience.
Represent backend engineering in leadership forums, advocating for technical priorities and investments.
What You'll Bring
Experience & Technical Skills
10-15 years in backend software development, with 5+ years in engineering leadership.
Expertise in
Java
and
Spring ecosystem
(Boot, MVC, Security, Data).
Deep understanding of
distributed systems, APIs, and microservices
.
Proficiency with
databases
(SQL & NoSQL), caching, and messaging systems.
Experience with
CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms
(AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Leadership & Mindset
Proven track record of scaling engineering teams and leading through complexity.
Strong decision-making ability with a pragmatic balance of technical rigor and business needs.
Exceptional communication skills, able to influence both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
Empathy-driven leadership style with a focus on team growth, culture, and retention.
Preferred Plus
Experience working in high-growth product organizations or large-scale enterprise systems.
Hands-on knowledge of
performance tuning, JVM optimization, and high-throughput systems
