Job Title: Backend Developer (Rust, Startups)
Location: Remote (India)
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer with deep expertise in Rust to join our fast-paced startup team. You will work on compiling Rust code to alternate targets (such as WebAssembly), building scalable applications, and owning CI/CD processes. This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for Rust, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend software solutions in Rust.
• Work with the Rust compiler for alternate targets (e.g., WebAssembly).
• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices for unit testing and integration testing of APIs.
• Collaborate in a Git-style workflow (staging deployments on commit, production deployments on merge).
• Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines for staging and production using GitHub Actions.
• Maintain and improve existing Rust codebases.
• Partner with the team to make impactful technical and product decisions in a startup environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 4 7 years of experience shipping production applications.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining Rust applications.
• B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering from Tier-1 institutions (see list below).
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to move fast while maintaining stability.
• Ownership-driven, with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic startup environment.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on Rust development experience
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) knowledge
• CI/CD pipeline management (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Git workflow proficiency
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-Have Skills

• WebAssembly experience
• Exposure to high-growth startup environments
• Knowledge of GraphQL, Node.js, or other backend tools is a plus
