: Backend Developer - Healthcare Domain (6+ Years)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled

Backend Developer

with strong expertise in Python-based frameworks and healthcare data standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working on NHS or healthcare-related projects, with deep knowledge of FHIR R4 UK, EMR integrations, and healthcare data interoperability. This role requires strong backend development capabilities along with collaboration across frontend, data, and integration teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain

backend services

using

FastAPI

or similar Python-based frameworks. Build and optimize

RESTful APIs

adhering to healthcare data standards (FHIR R4 UK, SNOMED CT). Develop

MIG connectors

and implement

EMR integration strategies

for healthcare systems. Leverage

FHIR mapping tools/libraries

to ensure accurate and scalable data exchange. Implement

purpose-based access control

, including

role mapping

and

data suppression policies

. Design solutions for

progressive data loading

,

data staleness indicators

, and

asynchronous data aggregation

with effective caching strategies. Work with

AWS cloud services

(Secrets Manager, etc.) for secure and scalable deployments. Collaborate closely with

frontend engineers

on Material UI-based applications to ensure smooth

frontend-backend integration patterns

. Contribute to

CI/CD pipelines

, manage

mono-repo architectures

, and ensure best practices in

containerized environments (Docker)

. Integrate with

pluggable authentication mechanisms

(e.g., CIS2, Optum Healthcare One). Participate in Agile development processes using

Rally or similar project management tools

. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (frontend, data, integration) to deliver high-quality healthcare solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

6+ years

of professional backend development experience. Strong proficiency in

FastAPI

(or similar Python web frameworks). Proven experience in

healthcare/NHS-related projects

and working with

EMR integration

. Hands-on experience with

FHIR R4 UK

and

SNOMED CT data models

. Solid knowledge of

MIG connectors

and

FHIR mapping tools/libraries

. Strong background in

RESTful API design

, especially in healthcare interoperability. Familiarity with

progressive loading strategies, caching mechanisms, and data staleness indicators

. Experience working with

AWS services

(Secrets Manager, etc.). Strong knowledge of

containerization (Docker)

and

CI/CD pipelines

. Exposure to

mono-repo architecture

. Understanding of

role-based access controls

and secure data access strategies. Experience integrating
