This role will be part of Babel Investment Research Project at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), working in our Development team. Our team provides support, analysis and development for the Data Loaders, Investment Model Setup for Investment Research teams at SSGA.
Key responsibilities:
As a member of the Babel team, the candidate will utilize prior work experience in both the investment and technical domains to provide solutions to end users. On a day to day basis, the job may entail working as a team to resolve a production issue, working on an ongoing development, enhancement to our new/existing models, or interacting with our business partners to prioritize and gather requirements on future initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be:

• A self-starter with excellent organizational, time and relationship management skills.
• Very detail oriented with ability to work with both Developers and Business users.
• Develop oneself into a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Technical & Domain areas.
• Able to take responsibility of informing managers about potential issues on a timely basis using strong and clear communication.
• Able to review existing processes/procedures and suggest improvements.
• Ability to adapt to agile methodologies, quick self-learner.
• Able to lead projects with minimal guidance and should show complete ownership of deliverables.

• Bachelor’s degree is a requirement; Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
• 8+ years of IT experience.
• 5+ years of experience in R or Python with strong understanding of object-oriented design. Should have proven track record working with R/Python or both and should have delivered at least 1-2 projects to substantiate the same.
• 3+ years of experience in ETL, data curation and analytical jobs using distributed computing framework such as Spark.
• 5+ years of experience in working with large scale data either on premise or on cloud.
• Understanding of Java is a plus.
• Good to have CFA, FRM designations.
• Experience working in a financial firm supporting investment applications is desired
• Should be an excellent communicator with no MTI influence, experience on communicating with global users (Both Written and Verbal), will be preferred.
• Ability to understand data for Fixed Income, Cash, Currency, Equity asset classes. ESG data understanding is preferable.
