Identifying electrical problems in vehicles using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and their knowledge of vehicle systems.
Repair:
Repairing or replacing faulty wiring, components, or systems, including but not limited to:
Wiring:
Fixing damaged or corroded wires, ensuring proper connections.
Lighting:
Repairing or replacing headlights, taillights, brake lights, and other lights.
Starting & Charging Systems:
Diagnosing and repairing issues with starters, alternators, and batteries.
Electronic Control Units (ECUs):
Working with ECUs, which control various vehicle functions, including engine management, transmission, and safety systems.
Other Systems:
Addressing issues with air conditioning, alarms, anti-lock brakes, and other electrical systems.
Installation:
Installing new electrical components, such as accessories or aftermarket equipment, and ensuring proper integration with the vehicle's existing electrical system.
Maintenance:
Performing routine checks and maintenance on electrical components to prevent future problems.
Collaboration:
Working with other mechanics and technicians to diagnose and resolve complex vehicle issues.
Following Safety Procedures:
Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines when working with electrical systems.
Staying Up-to-Date:
Keeping up with the latest advancements in automotive electrical systems and technologies.
