About the Role

We are looking for a

QA / Test Engineer with a strong development background

to join our engineering team. This role is

automation-first (?90% automated testing, 10% manual)

and is ideal for someone who thinks like an engineer, not a traditional tester.

You will work closely with backend, frontend, and platform engineers to design, build, and maintain

automated test frameworks

for a

microservices-based, API-first, cloud-native platform

. Quality, reliability, security, and scalability are core to this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Automation & Engineering

Design and implement

automated test suites

for: API testing, Integration testing, End-to-end (E2E) testing, Regression testing Build reusable, modular, and maintainable test frameworks. Write test code with the same discipline as production code (clean structure, naming, documentation).

2. Microservices & Integration Testing

Validate

service-to-service communication

, message queues, async flows, and event-driven systems, Test APIs for correctness, performance, resilience, and failure scenarios. Ensure contract testing between microservices.

3. CI/CD & DevOps Integration

Integrate automated tests into

CI/CD pipelines

so they run automatically on: Pull requests, Merges, Deployments Work with DevOps/Platform engineers to ensure tests are reliable, fast, and actionable. Support quality gates in pipelines (fail builds on critical issues).

Security & Reliability Testing

Perform

security-focused testing

, including: API security testing, Authentication & authorization checks, OWASP Top 10 vulnerability validation Validate data integrity, access controls, and multi-tenant isolation. Assist with test coverage for compliance and audit readiness.
5.

Manual Testing (Selective)

Perform exploratory/manual testing when required: New features, Complex workflows, Edge cases not yet automated

Skills & Experience

Must-Have:

Strong

development background

(not just manual QA). Experience writing test automation using one or more of:

Go, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, Java / Kotlin

Solid understanding of

microservices architecture

and API-first systems.

Automation & Testing Tools

Experience with modern testing tools/frameworks such as:

API Testing:

Postman/Newman, REST Assured, SuperTest

Automation Frameworks:

Playwright / Cypress (for frontend/E2E) Selenium (if applicable)

Contract Testing:

Pact

Performance Testing:

k6, JMeter

Test Reporting:

Allure, TestNG/JUnit reports, custom dashboards

CI/CD & Infrastructure

Experience integrating tests into

CI/CD pipelines

(GitLab CI preferred; GitHub Actions acceptable). Familiarity with: Docker containers Kubernetes environments Understanding of test execution in cloud environments.

Security Testing

Knowledge of

OWASP Top 10

Familiarity with tools like: OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite (basic) Understanding of authentication mechanisms (JWT, OAuth, API keys).

Bonus Points For:

Experience testing

multi-tenant SaaS platforms

. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred). Experience testing distributed systems, message brokers, or event streaming platforms. Familiarity with observability tools (logs, metrics, traces). Exposure to compliance-driven testing (FinTech is a plus).
